Introduction
The PayZe® website (“Website”) and PayZe® Mobile App Wallet (“Wallet”) use cookies and tracking technologies to make the services they provide easier for you to use and help us improve your experience when you browse and use our applications. To know more about how we use cookies, please continue reading through this Cookie Policy.
If you want to know more details about how we process your personal information, please click here to see our PRIVACY POLICY.
What are Cookies?
‘Cookies’ are small text files stored by the browser (e.g. Chrome or Safari) on your computer or mobile phone which can be used to provide you with tailored information. In accordance with data protection laws and regulations, we may only use cookies if you have provided us with your consent for doing so, with the exception of ‘Strictly Necessary’ cookies, which are essential for us to provide you with a service that you have requested, and we use to make the Website and the Wallet work. For this reason, when you first connect to the Website or the Wallet, a banner appears to inform you of our use of cookies and you can choose to accept the use of certain cookies by clicking on the button ‘Cookie settings’ and switching on each type of cookie separately. Where your consent is provided, cookies may be used to better personalise the content that you and other users will see. We may also use the information to research and understand how users interact with the Website and the Wallet so that we can enhance the user experience.
For more information about cookies please click on the following link: www.allaboutcookies.org.
Referrers
The information passed along by a web browser that references the Web URL you linked from is known as the ‘referrer’ and is automatically gathered by our web server. This information is used by us to identify broad demographic trends that may be used to provide information tailored to your interests.
IP Addresses
IP addresses are automatically gathered by our web server. Your IP address is a number that is used by computers on the network to identify your computer so that data (such as the web pages you request) can be sent to you. Your IP address may also be used to assist in the detection of fraud and we may pass this information to the Police. Environment variables we gather include time, type of web browser being used, the operating system/platform, and CPU speed. This information is used by us only to monitor broad demographic trends and may be used to provide information tailored to your interests.
Tracking Technologies
Functions usually performed by a cookie can be also achieved by other technologies, such as using certain characteristics to identify devices so that visits to a website can be analysed or using a tracking pixel in marketing emails to record information on the device used to read them – such as the operating system of the device, or the time of day the email was opened. You can choose to accept the use of tracking technologies by clicking on the button ‘Cookie settings’ and switching on ‘Performance Cookies’.
Types of Cookies used
Strictly Necessary Cookies and similar technologies
These cookies and similar technologies are essential for you to browse the the Website or the Wallet and use their features, such as accessing secure areas of the Site. They are necessary for the Website or the Wallet to function and cannot be switched off in our system. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you such as navigating through pages or entering information. These cookies and similar technologies do not store any personal data. They include the following ‘Session cookies’ which allow the Website or the Wallet to link your actions during a browser session, to keep track of your movement from page to page, so you are not asked for the same information that has already been provided on a previous page. Session Cookies expire after a browser session – they are not stored for any longer.
Strictly Necessary is set to ‘Always On’ in the Website or the Wallet. You can set your browser to disable all cookies, which would also turn off our strictly necessary cookies as our cookie settings will then become irrelevant. This would mean that performance of the Website or the Wallet will be impacted.
Note that ReCAPTCHA cannot be disabled as this is a security feature which protects your account from fraudulent use.
The Strictly Necessary Cookies and similar technologies we use are:
- Name
- Purpose
- Storage period
- Issued by
- NID
- This is a unique ID used to remember preferences.
ReCAPTCHA collects (anonymous) personal data from you when logging in via the website to determine if you are human and not a bot (security feature).
- 6 Months
- _cfduid
The cookie is set by CloudFare. The cookie is used to identify individual clients behind a shared IP address and apply security settings on a per-client basis. It does not correspond to any user ID in the web application and does not store any personal data.
- 4 Weeks
- Cloudflare
- localStorage and sessionStorage
We use localStorage and sessionStorage for temporarily holding data on your own device while you are using the Website only, to remember who you are during the current session to make your journey easier. Any such data is automatically deleted when you close your tab or window or log out of the application. This data is not passed to our servers.
- Current Session only or 5 minutes with screen idle

Performance Cookies and Tracking Technologies
These cookies and tracking technologies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of the Website and Wallet. On the Website, these are ‘cookies’, on the Wallet they are ‘tracking technologies’. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the Website and Wallet, as well as collecting information if you experience any errors. These cookies or tracking technologies are only used to help us improve how the Website and Wallet work.
Google Analytics
We use features of Google Analytics for Firebase, Google’s mobile and web application development platform, to provide us with information on how the Website and Wallet are used and to help with understanding crashes of the Website and Wallet. Google Analytics is a web analytics service provided by Google LLC (“Google). Google Analytics uses cookies and tracking technologies, as detailed in the table below, to allow an analysis of your use of the Website and Wallet. The information collected by the cookie or tracking technology, including data related to the device/browser, IP address and website/app activities, is usually transmitted to a Google server in the United States, where it will be stored and analysed by Google. The respective results will then be made available to us in anonymised form, e.g. in the form of reports on website activity. Google Analytics provides us with detailed visitor demographic data, how behaviours can be tracked against “typical” journeys, the routes you take through the Website and Wallet, and how traffic trends compare across different time periods. Google may use the transmitted data for any of its own purposes, such as profiling and personalised advertising, and may link them with other user data such as your IP address, search history, personal accounts, usage data of other devices and any other data that Google has about you as a user. This may also allow Google to identify links to an existing Google account. Local state authorities may also have access to this data pursuant to the applicable laws. Google has been assessed by an independent third party who have awarded ISO27001 certification. For further information on Google’s commitment to privacy and safeguarding data click here. Information on Firebase retention period and privacy certificates for ALL google products – https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
We do not use Google Analytics to collect any data from children or those in sensitive categories, data related to payments, financial transactions, or credit history/worthiness, including credit card and bank account numbers, data used for authentication or precise location data, or any other end user current location that requires location platform permissions.
How Google retains the data they collect
Google collect data as you use Google services. What they collect, why they collect it and how you can manage your information are described in the Google LLC Privacy Policy on their website. Their retention policy describes why Google retain different types of data for different periods of time.
Some of the data Google collect can be deleted when you choose, some data is deleted automatically and some data they retain for longer periods of time, when necessary. When you delete data, Google state that they follow a deletion policy to make sure that your data is safely and completely removed from their servers or retained only in an anonymous form. Please see How Google anonymises data on their website for more information.
You can control whether the performance cookies or tracking technologies, including Google Analytics for Firebase, are used via ‘Cookie Settings’ but if you do not allow these we will not know when you have visited the Website or Wallet and we will not be able to monitor their performance.
The Performance Cookies and tracking technologies we use are:
- Name
- Purpose
- Storage period
- Issued by
- _ga
_ga and _gat cookies are used to distinguish unique users by assigning a randomly generated number as a client identifier.
14 months
- _gat
Information about how you and thousands of others use the Website and Wallet, enables us to assess how the various pages are accessed. This combined data will be transmitted to Google in the United States and so stored outside the EU. A random unique number or string of letters and numbers to identify your browser, the times and dates that you interacted with the Website or Wallet recently.
No personal data is collected by us, IP addresses are anonymised, and the data collected is not linked to any other data we may store about you.
From 1 minute up to 10 minutes (i.e. current session period)
- _gid
This cookie is used to store and update a unique value for each page visited and therefore record the number and location of visitors to the Website and Wallet.
No personal data is collected by us.
24 hours
- _gali
This is an analytics cookie used to distinguish unique (anonymous) users.
From 1 minute up to 10 minutes (i.e. current session period only)
- Firebase Crashlytics
This provides us with crash data for specific performance instances of the Website and Wallet. These are non-personal identifiers and are either anonymised or pseudonymised.
Crash traces and their associated identifiers are kept for 90 days
- Firebase Remote Config
This enables us to carry out A/B testing (multi-scenario testing). We capture user identification by generating a random ID at device level so that the app can recognise the user when they next open the app. This anonymised or pseudonymised information can/will also be used by us to assess the success of new features to improve the product.
Crash traces and their associated identifiers are kept for 90 days
Push notifications
If you have provided your mobile phone number, we may use a ‘notifications engine’ to send you notifications (messages) on your mobile phone. This enables you to receive messages relevant to the PayZe® products and services, and to receive ad hoc promotional messaging associated with PayZe® offers. These messages are saved to your local device.
You can control whether to receive notifications. The default setting is Off, but you can change this in the Wallet.
Disabling Cookies in your browser
If you do not wish to consent to our use of any of the types of cookies described in this cookie policy you can control this by using your web browser settings. These settings will vary from browser to browser, but they may be found in the ‘Privacy’ or ‘Cookies’ section of the ‘Properties’ menu of your browser. If you need assistance in disabling cookies you should refer to the browser’s ‘help’ menu. Please note however, if cookies are disabled, you may not be able to use all of the interactive features of our Site or place an order online and it may limit the service we are able to provide to you via the Site. To optimise your use of the Site it is advisable to have cookies enabled at browser level.
